Obituary for Velma B. Simpson
Velma B. Simpson, 72, died on February 1, 2019.
Velma Bowie Simpson was born December 29, 1946 to the late Ida B. Bowie and Robert Bowie Sr. She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Bishop Henry C. Bunton, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the CYF.
Velma was a graduate of Booker T. Washington high school. She attended Tennessee state university. She worked as a pharmacy technician with medical associate’s pharmacy for 18 years. Velma then worked as a CPH technician at the regional medical center for 21 years, of which she retired.
In 2011 Velma married the love of her life, Albert Simpson Jr. Along with her husband, Albert Simpson Jr., she leaves to cherish her memories; her devoted son, Lewis C. Pilcher II; step children, Geneva Simpson-Moore (Dwight), Michelle Pouncy, Albert B. Simpson (Darleene); a sister, Beverly Shanon; brother, Robert Bowie Jr. (Debra); aunt, Robbie Martin (Johnnie); caring cousin, Sophia Baptist; granddaughter, Teliah Baughns; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be reunited with her other son, Walter Baughns, who preceded her in death.
