Tammy Sarita Gray Smith was born May 7, 1963 to Silas Gray, Sr. and Gloria Moss Gray. She was the only daughter of four children. She has 3 brothers. Tammy's brother Remeco “Rico” Gray preceded her in death.
Tammy confessed in Christ at an early age at Youth Baptist Church in Memphis TN. She frequently visited New Life of Memphis on Holmes Road.
Tammy attended Northside High School and graduated with the Class of 1982.
Tammy was employed at the Peabody Hotel, Aramark and Homestead companies.
Tammy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She was known for her smile and laughter.
On Tuesday morning, January 8, 2019, Tammy was granted a quiet transition from this life. Those who remain to embrace the promises of God and cherish her memories are: her husband, Austin Lee Smith, a loving son, Charles Nevels Jr., a loving daughter, Jocelyn Nevels, parents Mr. and Mrs. Silas Gray, two brothers, Michael Anthony Gray (Edwina) and Silas Gray, III (Tracie) all of Memphis, TN., 5 grandchildren: Alexandria Martin, Ta’Mya Wilkins, Jamar Parks, David Nevels and Decorrion Nevels, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives whom she loved dearly.
