Rosetta Stevenson, affectionately called “Tut” was born July 1, 1934, to the late Matthew Nash and Essie Groves Nash in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She professed her belief in Christ at an early age. She was raised and lived in Kosciusko until the age of 17. She married the late Reverend James W. Stevenson. To this union they were blessed with ten children. They moved to East Chicago and later Gary, Indiana and established a home where she was a faithful wife, mother and homemaker for over 50 years. She had a passion for cooking and entertaining in her home. She also loved shopping and taking family vacations. She always offered a bright smile and home cooked meal to anyone who visited. It was hard to resist her famous sweet potato pies.
Rosetta was a member of New Shiloh M.B. Church, Gary, Indiana where she served faithfully as a member of the mission, Sunday School, and in the hospitality ministry. After serving many years at New Shiloh, she moved her membership to New Macedonia M.B. Church to support her husband’s calling as pastor. She served at New Macedonia M. B. Church for three years, until the Holy Spirit lead her husband to organize the Greater Faith M.B. Church where she served in the mission, mother’s ministry, and as a Sunday School teacher. She organized clothing drives and fed the needy. After serving at Greater Faith, she became an active faithful servant as a Mother at The Father’s Heart Church until she moved to Memphis, TN to live with her daughter Joyce.
