Obituary for Robert Booker
Robert Earl Booker, “Rob”, was born January 14, 1949 in Galveston, Texas to parents Annie Mae and Willie Earl Booker. He departed this life for his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Rob was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Will and Alma Booker and his brother Jim Albert Booker.

The family later moved to LaMarque, Texas, where Robert went to elementary, high school, and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He graduated from North Texas State University, Denton, TX with a B.S. in Psychology and became a faithful member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. His first marriage produced a daughter, Tamny Marchelle.
Rob worked with several companies including U.S. Telephone, Time Life Books, his family business and IBM. He found his niche in the telecom industry with MCI Telecommunications Corp. Throughout his MCI tenure from 1985 to 1998 he advanced through the company in key management positions forming organizations and directing transformation. He won numerous awards and trips along the way including multiple Presidents’ Club and Circle of Excellence awards. He was an excellent manager of people and was affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Telephone.”

In 1986 he was promoted to Austin, TX and met and married the love of his life, Connie J. Booker in 1989. He was subsequently promoted to Dallas, TX in senior management and eventually promoted to Call Center Director in Memphis, TN overseeing over 400 employees and managers. In 1999 he helped develop and implement plans to open a new call center – Ashaun, LLC where he served as Call Center Director for 16 years managing the day-to-day operations.
Also in 1999, he was one of the “Original 12” selected by Pastor Thomas Murray to start Anointed Temple of Praise Outreach Ministries where he served tirelessly and faithfully in numerous capacities including Ministry Leader of the Spiritual Officers, Core Team member and Ministry Leader of the media ministry.

Rob was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to play golf whenever he could. He was an active member of the local Omega Psi Phi - Epsilon Phi Chapter - until he became challenged with health issues. He served as Treasurer for several years.
Rob leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Connie and stepson Colin J. Moore; daughter Tamny M. Fields; two granddaughters Jayla and Jamya Fields; grandson Jakai Fields; brother Ralph (Betty); sister-in-law Dorothy Morrison; aunts Lizzie Jones, Emma Jean Booker and Betty Jo Booker; uncles William Booker and Dallas Booker; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He will forever be remembered in the lives of everyone who knew him!

Visitation to be held from 4 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Anointed Temple of Praise, 3939 Riverdale Road, Memphis, TN 38115.

Funeral Services will take place at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 14, 2016 after a visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 12 Noon, at the Anointed Temple of Praise.
