Obituary for Phelindale Jackson
Life Reflections

Phelindale Jackson, a long-time resident of Memphis, Tennessee, died Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital.
Phelindale “Phil” Jackson had a full life filled with people who loved and supported her. Ms. Jackson was a kind, caring, and giving person and touched everyone she met. Her laughter was contagious, and her love was pure.
Ms. Jackson was born on April 4, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the eighth child of Arsie and Florence Jackson.
Ms. Jackson attended Magnolia Elementary and Hamilton High School and graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1968.
She was a compassionate person who would unselfishly help others at various times in life. In other words, she was a humanitarian or a good Samaritan. Over the years, Ms. Jackson was also a homemaker, babysitter, a wife, a mother, and a friend.

Phelindale met George Armstrong in her early twenties and they were married in the 1970s. Eventually, they had three children: Jorie, George Jr., and Germaine.

Ms. Jackson was known for her honesty and her tidbits of wisdom. Loved ones recall so many good memories, such as her rich conversations with family and friends, her kind and caring nature for all of God’s creatures, her love of God, her selfless service to the church, her expressions of love for her children, and her handwritten notes and letters.

Ms. Jackson was a remarkably modest person in that she did not ask for much. And, she was also a person of few words; she believed in keeping it simple.

Above all, Ms. Jackson believed in God. She understood that God is love; and she often said and wrote things to emphasize the importance of love.

Ms. Jackson is preceded in death by her parents Florence and Arsie Jackson, her three brothers Luther Jackson, Eron Jackson, and Andrew Jackson, and her sister Arsie Lee Kelly.

She is survived by her sisters, Deloris L. Jones and Hattie Jackson; her twin sister Gwendale Boykin; her two brothers and their wives, William and Beverly Jackson and Alfonzo and Loistine Jackson, all of Memphis, Tennessee; her daughter, Jorie Armstrong of Memphis, Tennessee.; her son and his wife, George and Nakia Armstrong of Cordova, Tennessee; her son and his wife, Germaine and Betty Armstrong of Memphis, Tennessee and leaves a rich legacy with her grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
