She was united in holy matrimony to John Willie Bernard, Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union, six children were born.
Lucille professed her belief in Christ at an early age. Upon moving to Memphis, she was employed by the Memphis City School system from which she retired. She joined Greer Chapel A.M.E. Church where she remained a dedicated member until her heavenly departure on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.
Lucille’s greatest legacy was her commitment to her family and her church. She leaves to rejoice in the richness of her life, her children; Margaret Myles, John W. Bernard, Jr., Jennings Bernard (Maerne), Meddie Bernard (Dorothy), Earnest Bernard and Deborah Bernard (Vincent); eighteen (18) grandchildren, twenty-seven (27) great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild; five sister-in-laws and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 10:00 am – 12 noon, with funeral service immediately following at Greer Chapel A.M.E. Church, 3502 Chelsea Ave. Burial at New Park Cemetery.
