Obituary for Lee M. Davis
Lee M. Davis, age 75, died February 28, 2021.
Obituary
Lee Manuel Davis, Jr. was born February 22, 1946 in Bartlett, Tennessee to Lee Manuel Davis, Sr. and Everlina Branch Davis who preceded him in death. He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age at New Wright’s Chapel. Later he joined Princeton Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend S. B. Butler.
Lee was known as “Brother” by most of his love ones. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1964. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army. After an honorable discharge he began working for Sears & Roebuck. He was a dependable employee for over 20 years. He was also a coordinator of the Calvary Mission for homeless men for a few years. As you can see he was a hardworking man because after working for 17 years he retired from the Gilmore Apartments where he was the building maintance worker. Many people in the apartment building adored and depended on him. This was true because during one of his visits to the hospital, one of his surgeons was a former tenant in the apartment building as a medical student.
Lee met and married the late Lynetta Elizabeth Moore and to this union was born LaWanda Davis Anderson and Lee Manuel Davis, III. (deceased) As Lee battled a serious illness his devoted daughter LaWanda was at his side as he went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2021.
He leaves to cherish the memories his sisters Betty Johnson (James), Delois Trezevant, brother Carl “Bonnie” Jackson(Shelia). He also has 7 grandchildren. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Lee also leaves a special friend and companion Shirley Douglas and their two sons Emanuel Lee Davis and DeMario Deshun Davis.
Lee is preceded in death by his father, Lee Manuel Davis, Sr., mother, Everlina Jackson, son, Lee Manuel Davis III, two brothers Wayne Jackson and Jessie Jackson (Priscilla).
I’ll Be Seeing You
I am at rest, so don’t cry,
It will be easier as time goes by.
As my body lies here, its only a shell
God has called me home, so I say farewell
Now I’m happy and very content
For the things I’ve done wrong. I repent
You know and I know that it’s hard on earth
So you should not cry at death, but at birth.
To all my friends as you pass by,
As I am now, so must you be:
Prepare yourselves to follow me.
I have no worries, pains, or fears
For I’m with God so please dry your tears.
I love you all and this is what I want you to do,
Put God first in your life and
I’ll be seeing you.
