Obituary for Larry Powell
Larry Powell, 60, died December 2, 2018.
Larry Powell was born on May 10, 1958 in Grenada MS, to the late Katie Vann Powell and James Powell. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age. Shortly afterwards, he moved to Memphis, TN, where he remained until his passing on December 2, 2018.
Larry spent the majority of his life helping others. He joined the Shelby County Sherriff’s Office in 1981, and served for over 25 years before retiring in 2006. He also served in the Army Reserve for over 15 years and was a LPN for nearly 30.
Larry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by one of his sons, Thurman. He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving wife of over 35 years, Debra Suell; two sons: Antonio and Prentiss; two daughters: Stephanie and Lisa. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Helen Suell, four grandchildren, three brothers, six sisters, and a host of other friends and family.
