Larry Layden 1958-2016

Mr. Larry Layden was born on October 17, 1958, in Tunica, MS to the late George Edward and Hannah Virginia Layden. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Pleasant View Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev.
J. H. Walker.
A graduate of Trezevant High School, Larry was very athletic, starting at a young age and playing both baseball and football. Upon graduation he volunteered to serve his country by joining the United States Army, where he served until an injury required him to be medically discharged. After his discharge, he followed in his father’s footsteps, working at Memphis Light Gas & Water (MLGW) for 33 years, serving in Customer Service and as a Union Steward during his later years.
God called Brother Larry home on Sunday, June 5, 2016. He leaves to
cherish his memory his lovely and devoted wife, Pamela; one son, Jeremiah Layden; two daughters, LaTosha (Manuel) Cantu and LaShawn Adams, both of Memphis; one brother, Jerry Layden of Memphis; three sisters, Mary (Michael) McCulley, Kitty Layden, and Angel (Jerry) Mosby, all of Memphis; five sisters-in-law, Joyce (William) Fane of Freeport, Illinois, Felicia (Michael) Fallen of Dansville, Virginia; Starvenia Hayes of Montrose, Arkansas, April (Joe) Pak and Patricia Ellis of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers-in-law, Percy (Bethany) McClellan of Freeport, Illinois, Larry (Coral) Hubbard of Springfield, Missouri, and Carl McGee of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren, KeTriana, Lavertis, Amond, Manual Jr., and Elijah, all of Memphis; mother- and father-in-law, George and Thelma Williams of Glendora, Mississippi; special friends, Mike and Carol Jones, Corey Hester, Gladys Jackson, Rozelle and Pearlie Smith, and LaDonna Davis, all of Memphis. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of beloved nieces and nephews, additional relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 10, from 4-6 p.m., and funeral service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. all at Serenity Funeral Home, Memphis, TN. Burial will be at West TN Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 10 a.m. Please sign his guestbook and share a memory @ www.serenityfuneralhomememphis.com
