Obituary for Jimmy L. Jenkins
Jimmy L. Jenkins, 49. died December 28, 2016.

Jimmy Lee Jenkins made his transition on December 28, 2016 when he heard the melodious sound of “Harps of Heaven” calling him into his eternal reward with his family and friends by his side. He was the proud son of Joe and Dollie Zanders. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. Later his served as a member of Historical First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Q.R. Smith until his death.
He graduated from Steven Decatur High School in Sigonella, Sicily in 1985. Jimmy was a hardworking man with true work ethics. He worked at UPS Freight as a dedicated employee of 20 years as a certified fork lift operator.
He was joined in holy matrimony to the lovely Chantay Bonds-Gaston on May 10, 1995. Within this union blossomed four beautiful children: Candace Ward, Dectrick Thomas-Jenkins, Detrick Thomas-Jenkins, and Derrick Jenkins.
Jimmy never met a stranger and all were embraced by his prominent warm friendly smile. Though he was soft spoken he often spoke his mind. He exuded class, friendship, and goodwill to his fellow man. His benevolence went beyond his family and close friends. He also loved to travel and experience pieces of the world. His life was full of love for family, friends, and the San Francisco 49ers.
Jimmy’s memory will always be cherished by: his loving and devoted wife, Chantay; his parents, Joe and Dollie; one daughter, Candace; three sons, Dectrick, Detrick, and Derrick; a rich legacy of grandchildren- one granddaughter, Mi’Kaylah; two grandsons, DeAndre and Joseph; aunts-Rosie Venson , Shirley Moore, Helen Gatewood, Ozella Flemings, Lorene Charleson, and Paula Mostella; uncles- Daniel Mobley, James Mobley, Larry Zanders, and Bruce Zanders; and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and friends. He also leaves a cherished cousin, Shanta Venson.
