Janaya Treneyce Davis-Wright peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 22, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Janaya was born June 17, 2005, in Helena, Arkansas. She was the only child of LaShaughnessy Davis-Wright and Jocstavius Wright.

Janaya was a senior and honor student at Cordova High School where she maintained a 3.5 – 4.0 GPA while battling cancer. Janaya wanted to major in nursing at Tennessee State University and become a pediatric nurse at St. Jude. She loved spending time with her family, reading, singing, art, dancing, making tik-toks and make-up tutorials.

Janaya accepted Christ as her Savior at the early age of 9 years old at Ascension Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie S. Williams. Janaya was a member of the Praise Dance Ministry and Youth & Young Adult Choir.

Janaya was a young woman of God whose faith and trust were undeniable. She was an inspiration to many including author Jae Henderson who wrote a book about her life; “Prayers for Janaya”.

Janaya was preceded in death by her great-grandmothers; Mamie Davis, Geraldine Brewer, Mary Davis & Ann Bates; one uncle, three great, great uncles, three great great aunts and cousins.

Janaya is survived by her parents LaShaughnessy and Jocstavius Wright, her grandparents, Sherry C. Davis, Forrest &Therese Wright,and Jerry (Cora) Davis Sr. of Memphis, TN. Four uncles Brandin (Maria) Davis of Rogers, Arkansas; JeMarkis Davis of Russellville, Arkansas, Jerry Davis, Jr., and Deonne Davis of Memphis, TN. Two aunts, Shannon Jackson & Elicia (Printyce) Ousley of Memphis, TN. Two great-grandfathers, Willie Davis, Sr. of Helena, Arkansas, and Robert Davis of Akron, OH; Four great aunts, Jacqueline Johnson and Debra Mattocks of Little Rock, Arkansas Janice (Albert) Porter of Lexa, Arkansas; and Dorothy Edmond of Atlanta, GA. Great Uncles Joseph Johnson Sr. of Lawton Oklahoma and Larry Edmond of San Francisco, California. A special friend Ava Love and a host of cousins in Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Illinois.
