James L. “Peter” Pratcher Dotson was born on January 10, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late J. L. Dotson and Ruby Lee Dotson. James departed his life on August 3l, 2016, at the Baptist Health facility, where he was greeted in heaven by his two sisters, Venita (Tato) Dotson Pratcher, Shirley F. Pratcher Warner (Fugie) and one brother, Kenneth A. Pratcher.
James was raised in a strict Christian home and his greatest love was centered on his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He paved the way for many. The love he displayed was exemplary and he was always making everyone happy. James had a passion for traveling, tennis, football (Tennessee Titans), and music, which inspired him to be the “DJ” at numerous gatherings. He was a free spirit and lived his life to the fullest. James was a dedicated and committed employee of Taylor Forge Smith & Nephew where he retired in 2013.
James leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Lakeisha Dotson Dowdy; three loving sisters, Jackie Luckett, Sylvia Dotson (Corona, California), and Beverly Dotson Green; three brothers, Jerry Pratcher, Vedois Day Dotson (Jackson, Mississippi) and Theoren Dotson; two grandchildren, Deon and Dominique Dowdy; four nieces, Veronica Graham (Patrick) (Corona, California), Yashika Nelson, LaZondra Vann, and Kenisha King (Jackson, Mississippi); two nephews, Anwar Nelson and DeAngelo Pratcher; two great nieces, Patrice Graham (Corona, California), Kentrice Wright; one great nephew, Ashton Nelson, one great grandchild, DeMiya Dowdy and a special aunt, Rosie Dotson. He leaves a host of other relatives and special friends.
