Obituary for James Weathers
James Thomas “Pops” Weathers, 64, died surrounded by the three women he loved the most on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
Jim is survived by his wife, Cheryl Weathers; his children, Erica and Melanie; and his three grandsons, Peyton Thomas, Griffin James, and Jack Jansen. He is also survived by his sister, Retha Weathers White, in addition to four nieces and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; James Thomas Weathers, Sr and Charlotte Ann Griffin (John Wayne Griffin); his brother, Charles Hubert Weathers; and both sets of grandparents.
Jim was born in Osceola on August 14, 1957. He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Jim has served as a Team Leader at Hytrol Conveyor Company where he has worked the past 20 years.
Pops was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his “baseball family.” Pops could be found almost every weekend at a baseball complex transforming random strangers into lifelong friends. He was a spiritual man and member of First United Methodist Church. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure to know him.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 29 from 5:00-7:00 at First United Methodist Church. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wayland Springs Church Camp or Ozark Mission Projects can be made to FUMC, 801 S Main, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
