Obituary for Jacquelyn Carey Matthews
Jacquelyn Carey Matthews, 53, died January 10, 2020.

Jacquelyn Carey Matthews was born February 11, 1966 in Greenville, Mississippi. She was the youngest child born to Allen and Mary Howard. Both parents, and two brothers, Joseph "JB" Miles, and Willie “WL” Howard preceded her in death.
"Jackie" as she was also affectionately known was educated in the Greenville Public School District graduating from Greenville High School. She met her teenage sweetheart, Cornelius “Kenny” Matthews, at the local game room and they began dating. About a year later, on September 22, 1987, they were married. From this union four beautiful children were born, Jackie also had an adorable son from previous relationship.
She was a beautiful person who was so full of life. She was a loving mother who adored her children as they adored her. She loved to shop and loved celebrating all the holidays. Her children fondly remember her going out of the way to make each holiday extra special. She was very creative and enjoyed making beautiful crafts and decorating her home. Jackie was very kind hearted. One time she purchased a doll for a little girl with cancer in California and sent it to her because Memphis was the only place that particular doll could be found. She was truly a colorful person who was loved and cherished by many.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband Cornelius Matthews Sr., sons, Victor Howard of Atlanta, GA, and Cornelius Matthews Jr. of the home, daughters, Carmelius “Maria”, Amelias and Cortisha Matthews all of the home, brothers, Allen Howard, (Sharon) Merrillville, IN, Henry Howard, (Mary), Boomer, NC, Roy Howard, (Gina), Walls, MS, Rodney Haney, Cedric Howard, (Crystal), Dejuan Howard, all of Memphis, TN, Bristol Morris, (Latrece), Spring, TX, Marvis McBride, (Marna), Oakely, CA, sisters, Mary Haggard (John), Dell Haggard, Annette Wilson, (Leonard) and Barbara Merriweather, (Clyde) all of Gary, IN, a very special niece, who was like her sister /best friend, the other half of the Josie/Jackie combo, Josephine “Pam” Johnson (William), the Carey Family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
