Obituary for Helen Carol Currie
Helen Carol Currie, age 72, died March 27, 2022.

Helen Carol Currie, affectionately known as Sally, was born on June 30, 1949, to the late Guster Mae Walker and Henry Clay Hegger in Brownsville, Tennessee. Her family later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, and Helen went on to graduate from Carver High School. She then attended Shelby State Community College. She married Ferry Currie, Jr. in May 1989.
Elder Helen Currie accepted Jesus as her savior and professed her love and commitment for the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She later joined Alpha Church, Congregation of the Temples of the Living God, under the leadership of its founder, Bishop Victor H. Williams, Sr. She was a proud graduate of the Spiritual Science Class. Elder Helen Currie has served diligently as a member of Alpha Church for nearly forty years under the leaderships of Elder Jessie Gilliland and current Pastor, Elder Victor H. Williams III. It was here that she became Elder Helen Currie.
Elder Helen Currie worked for over thirty years as a Financial Secretary for Memphis City Schools. She was the epitome of a professional and maintained outstanding dedication to her career. She retired twice from Memphis City Schools. Her first retirement was from Ford Road Elementary after serving approximately 25 years. After returning to work for anadditional several years, she retired from Lucie E. CampbellElementary School. After her tenure with the school system, Elder Helen Currie became a licensed insurance agent with Primerica Services. At Primerica, she was given the moniker Quiet Storm, because she produced results and did so with modesty, poise, and grace until she became ill.
Elder Helen Currie was a devoted sister, friend, mother, aunt, wife, and grandmother. She loved her family dearly, and the memory of her sweet, beautiful, spirit will be cherished by herhusband, Ferry Currie, Jr.; her children, Rodney Bohanon (Natalie), Clarenda Hurd (Sigmund), Laren Hart, and Derek Gibson (Tarshina); her grandchildren Latoria Goodman (Adam), Jemaya Gibson, and Rodney Bohanon, Jr.; sisters, Susie Cox and Errick Mayfield all of Memphis, TN. Half-siblings, Cecil Hegger of Longs, South Carolina, Marvin and Deborah Hegger of Desoto, Texas, Jacqueline Lennie, and Sharon Hegger of Decatur, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Walker and Thomas Jackson.
