Obituary for David V. Brown Sr.
David V. Brown, 62, died September 23, 2021.
David Vincent Brown Sr. (Ronnie), was born October 5, 1958 to the late Walter and Myra Brown, in Memphis, Tennessee. Preceding him in death was his son David Jr. (DeeJay), two older brothers Walter Leonard and Glenn Brown as well as his youngest sister Chandra Renee Brown.
He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1976, shortly afterwards he enlisted in the Armed Forces, and received several commendations. He was promoted to an Army Sergeant and served as a Tank Commander until injury lead him to pursue continued education in the field of medical administration. He served in this capacity until his honorable discharge from active duty. David furthered his education at Shelby State Community College. He was employed with St. Francis Hospital for several years in Medical Records. David held several administrative positions after leaving St. Francis Hospital including, Davenport Recovery Service and Marion Towing, as a Dispatcher, until his retirement. He loved his moonlighting profession as a Chauffeur and had the opportunity to meet several celebrities, to name a few, Patty Labelle, The Isley Brothers, Kim Whitley, and Phyllis Hyman. David enjoyed all genres of music however, his passion was for Jazz. He loved to grill, listen to Jazz, and eat popcorn. David was blessed with beautiful penmanship, which allowed him to hone his craft into becoming a Calligraphist. But most of all he loved to fellowship with his “circle of friends”. He had a daily routine to talk to family, friends, neighbors, ex co-workers, strangers, health care providers, in-laws, out-laws, and our neighbor’s dog Burrito. David never met a stranger and always said God gave him the special gift of gab. David accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at 37 years of age at Christian Vision Center under the direction of Pastors Velton Rodgers and Steve Ballard, successively. He continued his Christian Journey and later served as an Usher with Koinonia Christina Center under the leadership of Apostle Cedric Taylor. While serving at the church he often spoke of how he mostly enjoyed and missed working with the Juvenile Prison Ministry and teaching Bible study in the Teen Ministry. David had a routine to daily read the Word and prayed for everyone.
David is survived by his wife of 41 years Lauresa Brown, two sisters: Linda Brown of Southaven, Mississippi and Carolyn Brown of Memphis, Tennessee: one brother Michael Brown (LaTayna) of Memphis, TN. and
a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, god-children, in-laws, and friends.
