The Life and Legacy of Charlie Lyles

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1


“A time to be born”

Charlie was picked from God’s heavenly garden of angels on Tuesday, May 8, 1962 and placed with the late Charlie Will Lyles Jr. and Willieteen Lyles Banks to love and protect.

“A time to die”

His heavenly father decided that it was time for him to return home on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

“A time to love”

In June 24,2006, Charlie confessed his love and entered into holy matrimony with Vasta (Tina) Clark. The two became one and started their lives together.


“A time to plant”

Charlie was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a man of many talents. He was one of the individuals who spearheaded “The Magnificent Seven” dance group which grew in popularity throughout Memphis City Schools. While attending Booker T Washington High School, Charlie sang his way to being crowned as Mr. Booker T. Washington in 1982. After graduation, Charlie worked for several major corporations such as Federal Express, Volvo and Technicolor.

Charlie went on to become a proud father of 5 children: Alexis Lyles,Jillian Mosby, Reginald Lyles, Zabrian Lyles and Camille Lyles.


“A time to cherish”

Charlie Will Lyles leaves to cherish his loving memories: his loving wife Vasta (Tina) Lyles, his 5 children Jillian Mosby, Alexis Lyles, Reginald Lyles, Zabrian Lyles, Camille Lyles and 1 stepchild Asia Evans. He also leaves 5 grandchildrenand 2 step grandchildren.

Charlie was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Christine Lyles, his sister Charlotte and his grand-daughter Chloe. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother Mrs. Willieteen Banks; 6 siblings Marcus Lyles, Walter Banks (Shirley), Terrell Johnson (Kenya), Darnell Johnson, Angela Ford (Levanul) and CharlesBanks (Crystal) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
