Charles Lee Gregory was born on October 9, 1948 in Memphis, TN to the late Howard and Rosie Lee Gregory. Charles Gregory grew up in Bearwater, and attended Manassas High School. Charles is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals. After the war, Charles pursued a career in commercial driving. Charles was one of the first black men in Memphis, TN to drive for Grey Hound. Charles was fun loving, and extremely comical, he never met a stranger and was known for helping anyone he came in contact with. He was very close to his family. He loved his dogs, they were known as the fellas. Charles retired from trucking, and pursued his passion: fishing.
Charles Gregory is survived by his wife, Barbara Robinson Gregory; his daughters, Tammy Gregory Hulbert (Ashley), Chazana Gregory, Rosie Lee Gregory, and Carla King; one son, Aaron Gregory. Charles is also survived by six grandchildren, Talia Gregory-Valentine (Frog), Nyla Chambers, Iyana Chambers, Patrick King, Destany Colgate & Tiavonne Rondo; and one step-granddaughter, Raelynn Sheilds. Charles leaves two brothers, Mickey Gregory & Glenn Gregory; and one sister-in-law, Doris Gregory (Michael). He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Gregory, Gerald “Butch” Gregory; and one sister, Gail Gregory. He also leaves behind his very dear friend and companion, Carolyn Canida, who cared for him in his last days. Additionally, he leaves his dear friend, Milton Garrett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
