Bishop Clarence Edward Taylor went home to be with the Lord on September 29th, 2021. We will never forget that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace he always gave us. He was always there for us all through good and bad times, no matter what. We will always remember him because there will never be another one to replace him in our hearts and the love we will always have for him.
Bishop Clarence Edward Taylor was born in Casilla, Mississippi, on September 24th, 1966. The son of Percillia Ross and the late Henry Lee Bishop. At an early age, Clarence knew he was destined for greatness. He loved to talk to God as a child and was viewed as a strong prayer warrior, leading others in devotion and prayer. He was baptized in his early teens at Abundant Life Church. Clarence was the quarterback and captain of the Grenada High school football team. Clarence took his passion for ministry and love for people and developed his leadership skills on and off the football field. In addition, he has single-handedly introduced many of his friends, family, and classmates to Christ. He left Grenada, Mississippi, after graduating from Grenada High School in 1986, shortly after God led him to relocate to Memphis, TN, where he would embark on a new journey.
While in Memphis, Tennessee, he joined the House of Prayer, where he became an assistant Pastor to Pastor David M. Copper. He also attended Mason Bible College in Memphis, TN- where he studied theology. God gifted Clarence as a carpenter. This gift would pave the way for great impact throughout his life. God led him to start Taylor Enterprise, where he went on to build the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2000 and a host of other residential and commercial projects. Clarence found his true love, Capacine, and eventually married in Memphis, TN, and had three beautiful children. Through his children, Clarence was reunited with his passion for sports and created a basketball team named the Red Hawks and impacted hundreds of kids’ lives. Throughout his journey in life, he was a spiritual father to many. Often giving his last to see others around him prosper.
After being under Pastor David M. Cooper for several years, the Lord called Clarence into pastorship. Finding guidance under Pastor Leaks, Clarence founded Powerhouse Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Shortly after, Clarence founded New Direction Church and a restaurant called “The Place” in Charleston, Mississippi. After finding success in the ministry, he went on to establish many other churches. Clarence then was ordained as a Bishop by Apostle Darell Brown, which led him to found the New Day fellowship, where he has a host of pastors and bishops under his leadership.
The Bishop C. E.Taylor family was relocated to Houston, Texas. He continued his ministry and AAU basketball team – RedHawks during this time.
Finally, the Lord led him to Dallas, Texas where he always wanted to reside. He established “Loose Me Church” and built a commercial and residential Construction-landscaping business to service the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. His work in the community and with the churches will always be remembered.
Bishop C.E. Taylor leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his loving wife, Capacine Taylor, children, siblings and a host of relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by us all!
