Obituary for Betty Jean Loden Cook
Betty Jean Loden Cook, 81, passed away October 27, 2016 at home in Memphis, Tennessee with her family by her side following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born and raised in Amory, Mississippi. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Vera and Charlie Loden as well as her siblings: Travis Loden, Farrar Loden, Jerry Loden, Charlie Mae Hester, Ramona Gardner, and Edith Whitten.
She is survived by her brother, Millard Lee Loden (Uncle Sonny) of Amory, MS; her ex-husband Richard Cook who loved her dearly and continued to be a companion for her until death; her three children: Gail Akey and her husband Bill of Germantown, Lynn Clay and her husband Tim of Germantown, and Drew Cook and his wife Cindy of Cordova. She also leaves 6 beloved grandchildren: Ian Clay, Hunter Clay, Tyler Clay, Morgan Scudder, Abby Cook, and Drake Cook; and 2 great grandchildren: Ellis Clay and Wills Clay, born on October 26, 2016.
She was a strong and faithful woman and a devoted mother, mother-in-law, and “granny” who loved nature, gardening, and playing tennis. She left her family with loving and wonderful memories. Burial will take place in her hometown of Amory, Mississippi on October 31st. in Haughton Memorial Park following visitation at 2:00pm at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Paige Robbins Adult Day
Center, 1961 S. Houston Levee Road, Collierville, TN 38017.
