Obituary for Angela J. Herndon
Angela J. Herndon, 40, died June 5th, 2016.
Angela Joyelle (Angie) Herndon was born June 21, 1975 in Memphis, TN to the late Eddie and Sandra Herndon, Sr.
Angela was the second of five children and had a true mothering spirit for her brothers and sister. She blessed so many Holloway family gatherings with her beautiful poems and greeted everyone with her beaming smile and a helpful “what do you need me to do” spirit.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Breath of Life Christian Center under her uncle, Dr. Sammie Holloway. Angie was active in the Children’s Church and Teen ministry and remained a member of the church until her death.
Angela graduated from Bolton High School in 1993 and attended Tennessee Cosmetology School. She was a dedicated employee at Barrow-Agee Laboratories, Inc. for over 20 years until her death.
In 1998, Angie found true love in Carlos Nelson and joyously helped raise his children; Shaneka Nelson, Shaketa Nelson, Chrystal Allan, and Carlos Nelson, Jr., as her own. On May 18, 2012, Angie and Carlos were blessed with their very own beautiful miracle baby girl, Gabrielle Imani Nelson, whom Angie loved and simply cherished. All are left to cherish her in memory.
Also cherishing Angie in memory are her brothers; Carlos “Cooda” Holloway, Eddie Herndon, Jr., DiJuane Herndon, all of Memphis, TN; her only sister, Edrika “Muffin” (DeAndre) Finnie of Bartlett, TN; a dear aunt Pearl “Von” Holloway of Bartlett, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends.
Visitation will be held Friday June 17 from 5 -7 PM at Serenity Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 18th at Breath of Life Christian Center, 3795 Frayser-Raleigh Rd.
