Obituary for Ana Regalado
Ana Regalado, 65, died January 12, 2019.
There’s nothing a cold Corona and a good salsa song can’t remedy - at least that’s what Ana Julia Pola De Regalado (known to those closest to her as ‘Suly’) would prescribe anyone. It was this same positivity that carried her through 65 years of life - from her birth in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba on July 30th, 1953 up until her last peaceful breath on January 12, 2019 in Southaven, Mississippi.
Everyone knew Ana as ‘the cool mom’, and if you had the honor of meeting her you’d immediately know why. Even if she only just met you, she was already setting a place at the dinner table for you. She loved social media and fitness and Corona and hugging people (not necessarily in that order) and had better fashion sense than any of her daughters. She hated meat but roasted everyone’s favorite Christmas Eve pork. Even in life’s toughest moments, mom would maintain her signature smile and tell you that there was always a solution - because to her, there was. Her key to living a happy life was to do whatever she wanted without explanation: whether that meant dancing in her kitchen to Cuban salsa music at 7am while making coffee, or giving what she had to those in greater need even if she sometimes didn’t have much herself. Her children and grandchildren owe their dreamer minds, their inappropriate humor, their bravery and strong character, to her - because she embodied all of this and so much more.
Her light and spirit is survived by her husband, Lorenzo; daughters, Dayluvis, Glenia and Zulay; grandchildren, Dayrenia, Lianee, Jose, David Jr. and Gabriella; great-grandchildren, Angeline, Branden and Alexander; extended family and friends from all corners of the globe, and preceded in death by parents, Caridad and Luis.
