Obituary for Ada Owens
Ada Owens, 79, died February 3, 2018.
Ada was born in Nesbit, Mississippi into the loving family of the late Fannie Mae and Willie Tate. In the early 40’s Ada parents moved the family to Memphis, Tennessee were she graduated high school.

Ada was baptized by the late great Rev. William Herbert Brewster at Eastrige Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis as a child. It was there were she also help develop the children’s choir under the direction of Rev. Brewster.

As a member of Pentecostal Temple, Ada received many blessings from the late Bishop J. O. Patterson, Sr., as she carried out her order and mission in life loving and serving her community while praying, counseling and encouraging others though God’s holy word.
Ada worked at RCA and in the retail field for some time and later obtained her certification in designing wedding cakes. As a business woman and entrepreneur, Ada owned and operated, “Ada’s style of cake designs.” She later develop her working relationship with her loving niece Betty Jo and provided cakes for Betty Jo’s customers until she retired. She also enjoyed welcoming family and friends in her home where she shared her love of cooking and delicious food. It suited her servant heart and spirit.

Ada is preceded in death by her husband; Joseph L. Owens, Sr. Ada leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Diana and (Harry) Sullivan and Paulette Givands of Killeen, TX, Vickley Fountain, Senetta and (Richard) Conner, Juliet and (Reginald) Alexander, Alfred and Joseph, L. II, thirteen grandchildren Passion L. Sullivan, Damaris and (Marcellous) Powes Sr., Emerick and (Iman) Sullivan, Ericka Bolden, Antonio Fountain, Vickely S. (Marco) Lewis, John Bland Jr., Justin Bland, Jasmine Owens, Iyvonna Owens and twenty-two great grandchildren; sisters: Lillie M. Ross, Lena Prather and Beverly Tate Franklin; Josephine Durham of Jacksonville, FL. and sisters-in-law Earline Blakely, Mary Owens, Mary Louise Tate of Detroit Michigan, and brother-in-law; Larry Owens, friends, nieces and nephews.
